@Everyone Nice work on this one guys the asset I see and change we are making I think are headed in the right direction. With in the next couple of sprint I am really hopeful to have the GUI working (Not Pretty But Working) and a compiled version of the game on everyone computer running so you can see it.
Thanks,
James Fleming
Hi all,
Sorry for the delay. I was travelling yesterday but had submitted for review on Tuesday before I left. Maybe it hasn´t actioned but I will do this now.
Please let me know if we need further action. @James, if you could let me know via email this will be easier for me as I'm overseas, thanks
@Sound ok I will start to review it now and not submit it to approval until Sean has a chance to set for review so I know he is done with it.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@James we were actually ready for a while, lol. I think Sean just needs to set the thing up for review?
@ James. Not sure if there is anything I need to do. If there is please let me know.
-Robert C.
"Conjure Audio"
@Sound Looks like we are just waiting on you now let me know if you need anything to close this out.
Thanks,
James Fleming
I will submit my work soon, waited for the other GD's to hand in theirs.
@Brent, Johannes, Sean
Is their anything hold you up from submitting your agenda's for review so I can get the next sprint objective put together?
Thanks,
James Fleming
@Everyone This is the last day of progress for this sprint which will end at 6PM CST today. Please check in all progress to your agenda's or wiki. Then update your agenda's time logs.
The progress I have seen so looks really good I think with in a few more sprints we will have a fully functional GUI and can start on programming the game logic. :) YEA!
Thanks,
James Fleming
@Brent Will you please submit your doc into the GDD Add On wiki using the same format as the GDD.
Thanks,
James Fleming
Yes it is ready, and I had set it as needs review. Let me know if it isn't and I'll update it again.
@Anthony Is the below asset ready for review? If it is can you mark your agenda as "Request Review"
http://www.thoucurator.com/asset.information/viewasset?assetid=411
Thanks,
James Fleming
Perfect. It would appear that I have that part already completed. The login button moves to the main scene or what will be the console as it is completed.
@Anthony Sure thing what we want is an event button click event to pass from login to console screen, their does not need to be any authentication logic at this point because we are just trying to get the GUI running from screen to screen for now. Keeping it simple until its time to add these other feature in. Much like building blocks we want system of each functionality now so that like a car you can work on different system and combine them to do an action like driving. After this sprint is over we will have a meeting and figure out a standard so that the GUI is easy to read later when the project is extremely big.
Thanks,
James Fleming
I guess I'm off track of what you even wanted.
My assignment was event handling for moving to next scene. With the sentence provided for task, I added in moving from login to other scenes and into the main scene. Am I working on the wrong concept all along?
Aside from that it seems from resources available to me you have a structure for how you already want things to move to and from scenes, here.
Clarification on the subject would be great.
@Anthony Connecting to a SQL database right now we are not worried about yet I would not spend time on this. Instead we just need an even handler sample to figure how we want to structure the project.
SQL will come later which we can use namespace alias if need be for SQL. On top of this the Data will have a layer completely separated from the design code of the game.
Thanks,
James Fleming
Currently, after a bit of tinkering, the namespace Application.Design wont allow the use of System.Data.SqlClient to send and receive data to an SQL server.
Also I cant seem to get the IDE to pick up parts of code in WebRequest/WebResponse to write to a php page, which could then read and write to sql.
@Anthony We will be using SQL 2008 or 2012 to store user information as of right now unless another option that would be better comes along but I dont really see that happening.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@Nick Ahh ok I will review this in a few minutes see if i can figure out how to make that file dynamic.
Can you give me the full path you use to the project? Is it in the Visual Studio project folder or do you have it bind somewhere else?
@Edit Oh ok nevermind you got it fixed yes the asset name change goes with the changes for the asset pull agenda that was just finished. Ok so as of now its working like it should then so we can move forward.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@James The asset issue was cause by Paradox look for a file called "v1-876.jpg" when the automatic system check-in named it "362.jpg". I am going to commit my changes.
Thanks,
Nick C.
@James it looks the the
For the username and password, how are we storing and reading the information?

@Nick ok it is working over here can you post the error message for me please.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@James I am still receiving the same error even after pulling the newest version from the server and doing a diff check.
Thanks,
Nick
@ James and Robert-I will check it out.Good catch.
@James Fleming
I have submitted a new version of the wiki for review. I hope it is now as you had expected. If not, just let me know.
Etienne Rodriguez
@Nick Ok the project is building and checked in to TFS when you get a moment please check it see if you can run it now.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@Nick ok the asset pull is done so I'm going to start on the TFS to get the project compiled again and working in Paradox Game Engine to fix that issue you where having. I will try to get this done asap.
http://www.thoucurator.com/agenda/viewagenda?agendaid=944
If you find time you might review the TFS and look at the asset naming now, read my last notes to this agenda. I will make the changes to this on the document that Etienne is working on. I had to do this to keep it 100% automated this will say us so much time doing it with the automation system.
FYI it is ran every hour.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@Matthew Will you take a look at Roberts observation please?
Thanks,
James Fleming
@James and Matthew
I noticed that in chapter 1 page 4 and 6 have the same caption.

"Conjure Audio"
@James Fleming
Ok. I will update it.
Etienne Rodriguez
@Etienne After looking over the wiki the formatting of it is nicely done. However I post the link below will you download the project and look at the current structure of the file system. Then modify the agenda to represent the way this project is structure please. Also the screen shot is wrong as well. It will need to be delete we have restructured the project better fit our needs.

Thanks,
James Fleming
@Robert For now I dont think it really matter as we are just sampling but I will let Matthew answer that.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@James & Matt
So on page 7 of chapter 1, I'm not sure how you want me to pronounce Kerouac. Is it like the novelist Jack Kerouac? k EH-r oh-ae k
-Robert C.
"Conjure Audio"
@Sean Ok based off this recommendation lets have the sound team work this out using chapter one as a test subject. We need some sample for this now so we can put it into the game GUI. We will code for this now and once we get close to the game completion we will have the sound team do a mock up of the whole thing once chapter at a time.
If during the reading of chapter one or two you find any issue with the flow of the story please let Matthew and I know on here.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@Sound As of now Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 pretty much done have a look and let me know any thoughts.

Thanks,
James Fleming
@Nick Yes sorry I meant today Thursday lol I will set a meeting invite up.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@Sean
I can try.
-Robert C.
"Conjure Audio"
@James and Audio
I understand wanting to standardise the speech but, in my opinion, Dragon Speech is an amazing resource with incredible technology but there is so much nuance and subtlety that it fails to convey. In visual terms, it's like painting the emotions behind a human eye, if that makes sense.
I think our best bet would be somewhere between what's been put forward. We hold off on the narration and commentary until close to the end of the project and, that way, we have one person and a standardised piece of audio. In the meantime, if we need this audio for a demo then I think we can record this as Robert and Shayn have suggested. This way we catch the emotion, inflection and tone that text to speech software won't.
Shayn is 15 and I have an Irish accent so help us Obi Cordova, you're our only hope! Robert, do you think you could do a good Snake Pliskin if James agrees to the above suggestion?
@James You did put a date, but 9/10/15 @ 9 pm cst works for me.
How about a typed narration for the time being. After the narration is solid, then a recording? Just throwing ideas out there.
-Robert C.
"Conjure Audio"
@Shayn Having someone do it is not really an option because if we change it later and that person is not avaible to rework stuff or new content then that leaves us with a problem.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@James, I just did a quick skim, and it looks like there is a lot of free text to speech software, however, they sound robotic and unnatural. In order to get a quality text to speech program, it could cost a lot of money. I think our best option would be to have someone do the voice acting
@Sound Do we know of anything that could fix this issue perhaps some research could be done to solve this road block?
Thanks,
James Fleming
@James I'm pretty sure if the script was changed down the line, it would have to be a completely new recording.
@James. No, No it would not. Typically a new one would be made, but I am not sure how many times this will change. I now see why you would want to use DragonSpeak.
-Robert C.
"Conjure Audio"
@Robert Would this voice over allow all of our sound effect people to create voice over of the same sound now and 6 months from now if we change something in the story or add to it?
Thanks,
James Fleming
@Matthew I would like to set a meeting with you does tomorrow at 7PM work for you?
@Nick I would like to set up a meeting with you to talk about TFS and compiling issues. Does 9PM CST work for you? Your profile says you are CST is that correct?
@James. I am not familiar with dragon speak. Would a regular voice-over work? Or is there something in dragon speak that catches your attention?
-Robert C.
"Conjure Audio"
Sounds good, thanks.
As soon as Xamarin is installed I will get a start.
@Anthony It should we where using it up to a week ago.
Thanks,
James Fleming
@Sound Effect Do any of you know how we could do a voice over for our story so it can be read to our members as the game is being loaded. I would like to use a software package so that the voice over is not predicated on a set of voice. First thing that comes to mind to me is dragon speak. Do we have any other options or ideas?
Thanks,
James Fleming
So no way 2013 will work?
@Anthony Yes the project as of now is right here you will need to download the Xamarin to run it and we have switch to Visual Studio 2015
Thanks,
James Fleming
Is there any existing code/project files so that I have a basis on accomplishing my task?
@Everyone welcome to the 5th sprint in our quest in game development. I want to thank everyone for their participation. Lets get started!
Does anyone see any thing in their agenda assigned to you that you need information for to help you complete your task for this week.
The sprint that are assigned if they require more then 5 hours of your time for this sprint please speak now so we can break it down to a smaller amount of work.
Thanks,
James Fleming
